Sigma Black Friday Deal – $100 off Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG HSM Art Lens

If you have been eyeing for a fast 50mm prime lens, you may now have more reasons to grab one.  Sigma announced its Black Friday Deal chopping $100 off the 50mm F1.4 DG HSM Art lens until November 30th – originally was $949, now at $849.

Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG HSM Art lens has been regarded as one of the highest quality 50mm prime lenses out there.  Some say it is comparable to the famous Zeiss Otus 55mm, which cost 4 times as much.  Personally Papa Bear do not own and have never tried the Zeiss Otus so I can’t offer a comparison between the two.  However what I can tell you is that I have been using the Sigma since the first day it was available in the market and it is almost always with me on every trip since then.  On a related note, I now love the ‘Art’ line of Sigma lenses so much that I pre-ordered the recently launched Sigma 20mm F1.4 DG HSM Art lens.  I should receive the lens before Thanksgiving, so stay tuned for my opinions on the new lens.

As for the Sigma 50mm Art lens, the build quality is very solid.  The rubberized focus ring is smooth with nice resistance.  The image quality is excellent and extremely sharp even on a high-resolution body like the new Sony A7RII.  The lens is quite heavy, weighing in at 28.7 oz. (815 g) though so remember to factor this in your decision.
